Driving lab devices from code
Most laboratory devices ship with a graphical interface and a vendor method editor. Reaching them from code means working down to the firmware they speak, then back up to something a scientist can read and re-run. Open-source frameworks make that path shareable rather than rebuilt lab by lab.
PyLabRobot is one such framework, and where most of my open work happens: 350+ contributions, mostly to the Hamilton STAR backend — 96-head pipetting, the iSWAP robotic arm, liquid-level detection and firmware integration.
